About Durham Records Online
Data QualityWe believe our data quality is high because all the transcription is done by people who are familiar with County Durham historic family & place names. When the handwriting is questionable, we cross-check the names against other censuses and parish records. Of course we make mistakes, as did the original recordkeepers, but we like to think we do a better job than a huge corporation employing hundreds of workers who know nothing about the names they are transcribing. We also promptly investigate and correct errors when they are brought to our attention.User FeedbackHere is a sampling of comments from our customers: "It's absolutely brilliant!"..."excellent-- a great site"..."I have tried the census tonight and found lots of people I've been looking for ages."..."Absolutely no faults what so ever."..."Turnaround of results was pretty much instantaneous - a great benefit"..."this site is going to be an invaluable tool for my research"..."I find it easy to use and the instant access to records is great.
