Cemetery records now distinct from burial register records in Search Results

In response to customer demand, the search results table will now display “Cemetery” instead of “Burials” in the Record Type column for records that are from cemetery registers. This enables you to distinguish between records from the church burial register and records from the cemetery register, so if you already have one or the other, you won’t accidentally buy the one you already have.

Bywell St. Peter (Northumberland) baptisms, marriages, burials

From 1663 to the end of 1812:

  • 3,538 baptisms
  • 1,116 marriages
  • 2,433 burials

The baptisms from 1798 to the end of 1812 contain the mothers’ maiden name and both parents’ nativity (birthplaces). Also in this period, the burials of children usually include the mother’s maiden name and burials of married women usually give her maiden name. This Northumberland parish shares a border with the parish of Edmundbyers in County Durham, and there was lots of family movement back and forth between these two and other adjacent parishes.

These records are from Ron Nubley’s Index, which we are in the process of integrating into our collection, so when you buy one of these, you will immediately get the brief index entry, and the full entry will be transcribed and emailed to you within 3 days, at which point it becomes part of our database and you can view it again at any time.
